Man Sentenced For Having Child Pornography

A 38-year-old man was sentenced today to 180 days in county jail for having child pornography on his computers and cell phones, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Robert Tamayo (dob 3/3/80) of Lancaster also was sentenced to formal probation for five years, ordered to register as a sex offender for life and must complete a sex offender counseling program. He was immediately taken into custody.

On May 15, Tamayo pleaded guilty to one count of possessing child pornography.

Deputy District Attorneys Amy Pellman Pentz and Kaveh Faturechi prosecuted the case.

Tamayo, who was a California Highway Patrol officer at the time of his arrest, had more than 600 child pornography images on his personal devices.

Case BA462267 was investigated by the District Attorney’s Bureau of Investigation after receiving a tip about the defendant from the FBI. The CHP also cooperated with the investigation.
